About me
My name is Eduard Ereza Martínez, and I specialize in translating and localizing software into Catalan. I was born in 1986 in L’Espluga Calba and currently live in Barcelona. I studied computer engineering, but translation and localization have always been a part of my life.
My years of experience in programming have given me an additional perspective on localization, allowing me to understand the demands and concerns of both developers and translators throughout the software localization process.
Background
When I was 13, I began unofficially translating apps and romhacking console video games. It was a fun way to learn how they worked internally while also allowing me to enjoy them the way I always wanted them to be: in my native language.
Years later, my professional background in programming and app development helped me understand some of the challenges I had faced while translating software. Now, I was the one developing applications that needed to be localized!
I have been fortunate to work on projects where internationalization was a key priority. For example, while developing an app for SEAT, I designed and built tools to extract the sizes and limits of screen texts, making localization easier. Later, while working on the official Mobile World Congress app, I also learned the importance of maintaining effective change controls for text strings.
Thanks to these projects, I’ve gained insight into both sides of localization and contributed positively to each. This experience ultimately lead me to specialize in software localization.
Education
I hold a Technical Engineering degree in Computer Science, specializing in internet, applications and security, from the University of Lleida.
Previously, I attended primary school at CEIP Porcel de Cervera in L’Espluga Calba, followed by secondary education and a technological baccalaureate at IES Josep Vallverdú in Les Borges Blanques.
